Local Helensburgh licence rules

National Private Taxi Hire is based in Helensburgh, Scotland. Short, door-to-door rides within Helensburgh, Rhu, Cardross and the Lomond area are provided under the local private-hire licence framework. These local bookings are limited to 6 passengers and the vehicle must be licensed for that local area.

Distance hires across the UK

Any journey that starts or ends outside the local Helensburgh area is a distance hire. This covers Glasgow, Edinburgh, Scotland-wide travel, airport transfers and journeys to England, Wales or Northern Ireland. Distance hires can use executive and luxury vehicles with up to 8 passenger seats.

Cross-border and prebooked vehicles

When a journey crosses into a different licensing area, we can arrange a prebooked vehicle licensed for the destination area. This helps avoid local restrictions that would apply to a Helensburgh-only licensed vehicle. All cross-border bookings must be made in advance and are dispatched through the Trident Taxis driver network.
